An original and very rare USAF 531 Tactical Fighter Squadron PATCH made in Vietnam 1960s. This patch came from the estate of Captain Putney (later Colonel), who flew 300 F-100 Super Sabre combat missions in the Vietnam Conflict 1966/67. The patch is fully embroidered (possibly a single-point needles machine) and measures 4 inches top to bottom and is 2.5 inches at the widest point across. The 531 was designated a Tactical Fighter Squadron on the 18th May 1958 and was inactivated 16th June 1964. At this time the Squadron flew F-100 D & F models from Misawa AFB Japan as part of 21st TFW / PACAF, and the Squadron Super Sabre’s were painted in some of the most colorful paint schemes. In the middles 1960s the 531 TFS flew combat missions from Bien Hoa AFB Vietnam as part of the 3rd Tactical Fighter Wing. Patch is guaranteed original Vietnam manufactured. Patch will be shipped Priority Mail Small Box rate with tracking.
