Special Operations Squadron Ski Mu Gia Pass – Patch USAF – Ho Chi Minh Trail One Only Available US Air Force – Mu Gia Trail Patch Special Operations One Only Available There was no ski-ing on Mugia Pass. Mugia Pass elevation was less than 2000 feet. The United States Air Force, Special Operations Squadrons out of bases around Chiang Mai in Northern Thailand assaulted the Mu Gia trail from 1965 through to the middle of 1973. The commencing point of the Ho Chi Minh Trail, Mu Gia Pass started at Dong Hai in North Vietnam, running through to to Thakhek in Laos (on the northern Thai border). In flights over the Mu Gia pass, the USAF lost, during the Vietnam War, 43 Pilots. The Mu Gia pass was constantly assaulted by fighter and bomber jet aircraft as well B-52′s.
